RPA Architects have lodged a planning application on behalf of Didcot Town Council for a new single storey pavilion on land at Edmonds Park which provides approximately 21 of open space for sports and recreational use. The site has long been without any built facilities to support its widespread use and following extensive consultations the Council's brief was for a building which will meet both sports and wider community needs.
Sports changing facilities will meet national Sport England standards with additional provision for match officials. Accessible changing rooms will be provided together with first aid facilkities.
A multi-functional community space and two further rooms will be availbale to local clubs for a variety of activities, and a kitchen will serve both community spaces and outside areas.
A 'fabric first' approach will ensure a building of high thermal performance and it is envisaged that the building will incorporate a number of sustainable and green technologies including ground source heat pumps, photovoltaic and solar-thermal roof panels.
