Despite initial opposition from the local planning authority RPA Architects were successful in securing planning permission for the construction of this replacement dwelling in the small hamlet of Hyde End in West Berkshire.
When we were approached to assist, the site was occupied by a dated single storey brick building with a large detached double garage and a number of other outbuildings. A number of earlier applications (by others) had been refused or withdrawn as they were felt by the local planning authority to be inappropriate; we proposed a more sensitive solution whilst incorporating a number of exciting features in order to satisfy our clients’ brief.
The new property includes a bespoke curved staircase, an internal bridge and a number of full height spaces. Vaulted ceilings add drama and a feeling of space throughout. Extensive landscaping will complete the redevelopment and ensure that the new property settles quickly within its wider context.
With work now well advanced completion is imminent..
