This property stood empty and derelict when RPA Architects were appointed. It is located within a conservation area and designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty so the substantial remodelling and extensions which were proposed had to be handled sensitively in order to secure necessary consents.
Significant structural alteration was involved within the original building and additions included a lantern-lit dining room and a green oak framed party/play room with gallery.
The project included the installation of two ground source heat pumps to provide both space and water heating and high levels of insulation were incorporated to further reduce running costs.
Other sustainable solutions include a rainwater harvesting system, underfloor heating at both ground and first floors and smart wiring systems for future proofed control and automation.
